I threw this together pretty quickly lol. I noticed how the song Tidal Terror from the Donkey Kong Country Returns soundtrack has some instrumental similarities to Sanctuary Fortress from Metroid Prime 2, so I decided to try and mash them together :-P (I just realized both games were made by Retro Studios and both songs were made by Kenji Yamamoto, go figure lol.) The mix seemed to sound pretty good in the end, so I decided to upload it. Ironically, both songs were in the same key by default O_o However, the one downside when making this was the repetition that occurs in both pieces. There isn't a whole ton of variation that goes on in them, so a lot of sections sound similar to each other. I tried to make them as different as I could though, so hopefully that shows :-P

I almost named this mash-up something different to reference the fact that the Tidal Terror level is as far from a sanctuary as you can go ;-P

Speaking of mash-ups, I am admittedly far behind in listening to those of several people I'm subscribed to, even after promising some people that I would lol X-P Real life does that to ya. I'll check out those videos soon :-P

And don't worry Ultrathing, Hartmann's Youkai Girl is coming along 8-P

Here's the mp3 for those who are interested:

Enjoy!

I did not compose the original versions of these songs, nor do I own them. I have only edited them.

  • Really nice, but the instruments don't really match up...that part bugs me a little. Aside from that, it's great.

  • @SirReaI You mean they don't match up in sound, or in the way I mixed them together? Anyway, thanks :-D

  • Man.. you really have musical ear my friend :) Excellent!

  • @grimreaperhenrik Thank you sir! :-D

  • Awesome! I just picked up the new DK game. It's pretty sweet, actually. You got these themes synced perfectly. Thumbs up!

  • Eheh, yeah both of these songs as far as I know were composed by Kenji Yamamoto, you wouldn't think someone who composed something as atmospheric as the Metroid Prime OSTs would be able to replicate DKC's style but I thought he did a great job with this as well as Sloppy Sands (plus the remixes). This is a pretty neat mash-up too :D. Nothing seemed to clash and it was varied the whole way through.

  • @Headshotgod I Wouldn't Say They Partly Used The Themes From Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.I Think Your Trying To Say That The Themes Sound Extremely Similar Well Thats Because The Music In This Game Was Composed By The Legend That Is "Kenji Yamamoto" Who Made The Music For The Metroid Prime Trilogy.

  • you know, they partly used the music from MP2 to create this song in DKCR.

  • @toonmario64 Do you mean Tidal Terror? Anyway, thanks! :-D

  • sanctuary fortress + seaside sanctuary = infinitely epic!!
