Here's a technique that allows you to make free phone calls on any phone forever. It uses a series of tones usually reserved for Telecom Lineman when testing phone lines, but they also allow you to make free phone calls.

About 35 years ago i saw a newscast that featured a man who could whistle the tones you're talking about. He never paid long-distance charges and he could go to any public payphone and call anywhere he wanted for nothing. I don't remember what happened to him.
