You either love it or you hate it, but traditionally Kiwis adore their sticky black Marmite sandwich spread _ running short now since production was shut down in the wake of last year's massive earthquakes. Some store shelves are empty. (March 20)

Let's try this again, for the hateful and obtuse ones: If someone from Ireland joked about Americans liking root beer, and a lover of root beer replied “Root beer is healthier that whisky!” the problem is that whisky is consumed in America as well as in Ireland. Likewise, if someone from America jokes about New Zealanders liking Marmite, it's no good to reply “Marmite is healhier than Twinkies and Ding Dongs!” because similar snack cakes are consumed in New Zealand.
