A tutorial revealing how simple it is to create room obscura, and 3D room obscura.

All you need is heavy paper or cardboard, and tape. I recommend window sealer tape or packing tape. Cut a small hole in whatever blocking material you are using. You must seal all incoming light from the room for the best results.

For 3D room obscura, simply cut an identical hole the same distance apart as your eyes, and affix a pair of anaglyphic 3D glasses to the blocking material.

The hole acts as a lens much like a camera or eye. Light rays are reflected off every point outside the window, and in turn projected onto walls and surfaces opposite the window.

Still and time-lapse photography enhances the color and detail as the light can be controlled by a greater degree than the human eye.
