Here's a video I shot quick today to demonstrate my progress on my first ever truly compressed DJ setup. I crammed all of my equipment into this tower welded out of 1.5" circular tube steel and sheet metal.

It's been a hell of a fun build, and the concept is ripe for experimentation. Once everything is attached, it's a little too heavy for me to consider it 100% versatille, but it has it's place and will probably perform many an outdoor gig / sound support.

If I don't get to building the second tower, I can just carry a speaker and stand around for stereo, keeping setup quick.

I also have to design and build a steel / aluminum table that will also act as a ramp to prop it into the van with less effort, hmm.

Rolling it is a breeze for something that weighs about 300lbs. And if you don't like carting it, it lays flat and slides on casters.

Equipment as follows:
• Chauvet Min Spot LED Moving Head
• Chauvet Min Wash LED Moving Head
• Chauvet TechnoStrobe LED
• Chauvet ColorPalatte
• Passive Yamaha Top w/1600 Watt Mackie Amp
• Active JBL Bottom (18")
• MXR1U mixer (only 1U!)
• Sonic Maximizer
• Stupid Numark Wireless Mic

Comment and tell me how ridiculous I am for building an all in one DJ setup.

  • This vid is over 2 years old, about a year ago I posted the follow up with the finished product here: v=71FmobkJvgc

I still use it for every gig and it shaves about 40 minutes off of my setup, so all in all a worthy pursuit.

  • dj in a box literally

  • I think it would be cool if you made it a little more symmetrical on the inside, it looks like a mess of black boxes. As for the lights a Colostrip and laser on the top would make another great effect. Good prototype

  • Yeah, that doesn't look ridiculous at all - LMAO!!!

  • Innovative design.

  • lol.. are you kidding me?

  • ha. we have the same sub

  • Great idea.. Cover the speakers with a neoprene or something and you are all set. Great Job!

  • As long as theres no stairs and all the lights are off your golden!

  • lmao haha that funny stuff you try to pull that around here and you would get fired, nobody wants to spend all there time and money making it look nice and then have you haul that shit in .keep if clean and professional.
