Haha, that melon will feed a few of us today. I'd eat all three of those in one sitting!
-
@christlicker Yes because fruitarians are fat pigs! You're an idiot. :)

Those are actuly Musk Melons. For what ever reason people started calling them cantelopes, but cantelopes are a diffrent melon.

This is a valuable channel. I live in Central Calif the hub of ag and I often wonder about these things. We are going into the cooler months and I look forward to all the greens the we get from the Fresno area.

@YourProduceGuy Recyclables are picked up wkly here & garbage every other wk. We are only allowed 4 bags of trash per pickup...thats 8 bags/mo. Even our street corners have multi-bins for recyclables in addition to trash...sep bin for cans/bottles, paper/carboard. It all helps.
Its great to see people today into growing food in their yards rather than grass. Brings us closer to Mother Earth & responsible for our environment...great hobby too. I have 2 composters in my yard plus a worm bin.

@mukwah1111 Its not necessarily because we are altruistic here - we prod too much garbage in this highly pop corridor that begins in Tor, with 5+mil people followed by a huge string of smaller citys & towns that are all linked We simply have too much gar & something had to be done to elmin as much as possible So its a matter of "need" rather than "want"
Cottage cheese in the centre of a cantelope half would make a great lunch on a hot summer day. Make sure you compost those seeds & rinds.

@mukwah1111 Thanks for the comment! I'm looking forward to an entire gardening section on the channel which will include composting to sustain the garden. I'm a believer in the square foot method to maximize space and make gardening feasible for everyone with even the smallest space available.

@mukwah1111 Here in northern Utah we have a similar program but on a much smaller scale. Recyclables are picked up every other week. We do have a yard waste program and you can get mulch from the green waste site here in the city. I have several loads of mulch in my yard from the site. Thanks again for your interest!
