this is a really nice post. most foreigners come to jamaica and get only the "refined" jamaican experience (not that anything is wrong with that). but THIS is a true representation of jamaican life on a day to day bases. these are some of the things that i grew up experiencing. even though i'm now living in the urban part of jamaica this video truly brings back memories :)

I think this is one of the most beautiful representations of jamaican culture and jamaican community, on the web. Thank you for posting. I really enjoyed it.

TheBirney, keep these good videos coming into youtube.
Yes it is Owen from Zion Country Eco Beach Cabins, but it was filmed in Sunning Hill near Riverside Cool Cottages, Mokko's place.

The number one is "duppie" (a ghost or dead person) and nineteen is "silver." I've watched this several times and can't get what the man says number five is. There is a set of things connected with numbers in Cuba known as the "chifa," used in gambling and, less commonly, divination. Can anyone tell me what the man in the beginning of this video is refering to when he names things after numbers? Thanks, and God bless.

#5, a thief they call him.
The numbers connected with things is a childhood game in Jamaica.
