WIth my current job it would take about 8-10 years to make his annual salary. Also if you think his salary is huge look up the head of UC San Fransisco. She gets paid $900,000! I know she's a doctor but that is just obscene.

Private businesses would be very cautious lending money to students. They would only give loans to students that were going into occupations that would guarantee the students ability to pay them back in a timely manner. This, in return would keep the cost of school down to an affordable rate, perhaps back to such a low level that loans would not be necessary.
Often individuals focus on the cost or accessibility of loans, rather than the root, which is the affordability of school its self.

When high-school graduates are worth nothing, they then must choose university; the cycle starts over. Unfortunately this can not go on forever.. the world can not continue to subsidize indefinitely, the American student. Someone needs to pickup the trash on the curb, or take your movie tickets, or sell you a car. Or perhaps fix the roads, or drive the school bus, or fix your computer etc..

The school bubble is very reminiscent of the housing bubble; everyone wants to invest in it with hope of a ROI. The government directs all of the student loan market and is willing to give a loan to anyone with near zero requirements. Then, as more students come into the school market, the value of a degree is watered down; which means that students then have to go to even more school in order to obtain scarce value. As all of this occurs, high-school graduates are worth less and less...

School should be cheaper and more efficient today because technology has improved massive amounts over the last decade.
The question is, why is it more expensive?
The answer...
You can thank the government for guaranteeing student loans...
Don't forget that school is a business which sells a product; if the students can get the money the university is willing to take it. A report came out a while back which stated that student debt in the US now totals over 1 Trillion $.

I'm attending the University of Arizona this upcoming fall, and a few months ago the current president resigned. They've appointed the vice provost/dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences to fill in as president for one year while they find someone else, and I heard he will be getting paid $500,000 (plus whatever benefits) just to hold the office for that year. I really don't know how difficult it is to be president of a university, but something tells me it's not $500,000 difficult.

A corruption system. Go to facebook and search for "A Better Future for CSU" and join the fight!
What's he spending that 400k on? Prostitutes. What are students forced to do in order to make tuition payments? Become prostitutes.
See?! This guy is giving the money back to the students.
