Steadicam Test - Titanic Drawing Offices

"Test Flight" with steadicam inside old Harland & Wolff drawing offices. For a forthcoming documetary series, "Ships That Changed The World", this footage was taken where the Titanic & her sister ships were designed, at the shipyard where they were built & launched.

I had a chance to wander round this building a couple of weeks ago. I was amazed at how beautiful it once was and appalled at how it has become.

You captured the feel of it perfectly, that whole Marie Celeste feeling of abandonment. It's just a shame that your video stopped short of the WOW factor in the drawing offices...the picture windows in the roof.

Excellent footage! Great that it was captured in this way, as all I got were a few stills.

Hey, Thanks a lot. I didn't shoot the picture windows because the pictures (blow ups of old stills) were put there recently, and I felt they took away from the feeling of abandonmnent. I think there are plans to renovate this building - which is great, but also a shame, because like you I felt very privaledged to see this in it's current state of decay.

Guess what?!! If you have a tripod and a camera, you can have a steadicam. Search for Zero Cost Steadicam and check it out. I did it today and my footage looks like this.

The little Steadicam Merlin costs about £500-600.

i would hope someone would step in and at least try to pererve this but as often the case thsees things are torn down and then it is realized way to late what is lost the voices you can hear just like in this vid i can do that hear the voices it is a very real thing! for those who can hear them! more later! please let me know on this i am still very much interested in all that is titanic!

As a Titanic Historian, that was well done. I had chills like i was physically walking through myself. And when the camera paned into the main drawing room. wow, I can even imagine what the narrator would be saying as this is shown. Just beautiful.

Would also like to go through those documents and see what the papers are about.

Was in there today again.

I Had to open the 3 vaults only 3 weeks ago down at the rear of Titanic House, dunno what the room was called

Its an eerie place alright.

Don't believe so. The building was still in use until )ctober 1989 to the best of my knowledge.Unfortunately at the time this footage was shot it was just a very bad case of sheer neglect, peeling paint etc .

Hey! Saw your work last night on BBCs Ships that changed the World. I love this video, very eeire. I know the feeling in the building as I was lucky to get the chance to walk around upstairs in the Drawing Offices! They really need to get a TITANIC museum sorted soon! Such a shame no one wants to invest!

i was fortunate enough myself to have a walk found it a while back.Iwas open jawed the whole time at the beauty of the building (even behind the decay)!
