The Captain goes low, low (Yo-Yo Stuff) into Howlin' Wolf territory. There's a lot of talk about Santa Clause, but I'm not sure this is a Christmas song. From the album, The Spotlight Kid.

Untrue! He brought more beauty into the world than any one man has any right to. God bless Don Van Vliedt!

  • Once in a while there comes something along in our world that just can't be explained. For some inexplicable reason it just grabs us and shakes us until we pay attention. Such was the artistry of Don Van Vliet aka Captain Beefheart. Sublime absurdity in it's purest essence is the only way I could come anywhere even close to describe it. I miss you Don, but the insanity still remains, Thanx!

  • Brilliant post!

  • As a star struck teenager, I had the great good fortune to meet the Captain and the Magic Band at their house in Woodland Hills in the late 1960s.. I knocked on the door of their house and said I wanted to meet them, and they invited me in for a visit of about an hour. They were great.

  • This is a great song from the Bodhisattva Captain Beefheart about how each of us must find our own realization cause no one is coming in on the evening stage to save us.
