Repeal The LCBO - Ontario Election 2011

The LCBO (A Crown Corporation) is an alcohol monopoly that forbids retail competition in the Province of Ontario. Restaurants, Bars and Individuals are forced to purchase from the LCBO at whatever price the LCBO sets.

The Ontario Libertarian Party seeks to open the industry to retail competition by revisiting The Liquor Control Act (1927).

If the LCBO was run like a business maybe. However, the LCBO does not take advantage of their buying power to deliver a better end price. The real profits are chewed up by the corpulent bureaucracy that truly defines the LCBO. A monopoly of this type ensures a lack of competition thereby reducing the choices available to the consumer. That is an undeniable fact.

It's time to move into the 21st century, it's time for private sales of alcohol.

I always buy my beer in the states, you always get twice as much as from the LCBO for the same money, the Ontario gov't taxes are completely out of control and not just on booze either

There are so many flaws with this party If you look at neo-liberal policies(privatization) The best represenative is USA There economy has sucked for 10yrs. Another axample is Iceland. Most Scandanavian countries are Keynesian(crown corporations), but Iceland also started to follow neo-liberral policies instead. Their economy was good while they sold everything off, but then they ran out of things to sell and in 2008, their dollars was valued at only half of its original value 1 year before

Don't think McGuinty wouldn't sell LCBO for 1/2 the value for hush money extortion as the worst per-capita murderous spirit. Almost 40,000 30 channel murders using 2 teams. Ridiculous. I bet you will be the first to gain in this enterprise and that's why want that to happen. Billions of dollars are poured into the economy because of the LCBO. The Liberals just want to sell it so the books look good during their four years. They don't care who has to deal with the loss in revenue after.
