Do these guys actually spend their larva phase in these burrows, or could they be just tunnelling to find more moist mud (like mason bees) and then nest elsewhere?
I haven't identified the species, but I'm pretty sure they're nesting here. They build these very straight tunnels and hang out in the entrances, or buzz around trying to (I think) figure out which one is home.
