My novice driving experience at Blackhawk Farms in the mid 70's, driving a Fiat 850 Coupe, Sedan 1 class. A Midwestern Council sanctioned race, I was with Chicagoland Sports Car Club.

  • that brought back some fond memories of my childhood. my dad used to race there as well in the late 60s early 70s. he has pasted now. he was in partnership at the sportscar store in downersgrove il he was the main mechanic there and they also sold lotus cars.i was only about 9 yrs old at the time. but remember going to the track on weekends watching him race. thanks for the memories. eric aichinger

  • @kameroan Happy to have brought back fond memories. You should go to Blackhawk Farms raceway and really get into the nostalgia. The track has changed since the '60s and early '70s, not quite as relaxed and amateur, but still a lot of fun!

I remember going to a store in Downers Grove with my brother to get something for his Lotus Elan. It had to be your Father's place.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Thanks for the post, I used to have a 1967 Fiat 850 Coupe that I raced in autocross back in the late 60's. Now, I race an 850 Sedan, lots of fun!

  • Glad you enjoyed it. I still have this car in storage since the late 70's. I'd really love to get it back on the street again but that might be costly. It sure was a great ride though, provided you kept it out of the rain so it wouldn't rust. This one is rust free but my street Coupe had some problems.

  • I had one of these. Wish I had another. Great fun to drive. Total go-cart with a body! Leaf spring across for front suspension. Great looking little car, in my opinion.

  • i am sure it was it was on ogden ave in downers grove. the most fond memory i still have is when my dad was driving a little ginetta that screamed. it didnt have the top end in the long straight. but could drift and slide right past ya in the turns. i really miss my dad and he really loved his sportscars. also will never forget him bringing home cars like ac cobras and once brought home a detomaso mangusta. once again thanks for the memories.

  • cute little car.
