Every year, the Malwa Heritage Festival attracts many visitors and entertainers. Organized by the Malwa Heritage Foundation, something extra was added to this years festivities.
[Seva Singh Sekhak, Minister of Public Relations]:
"This year, it is being marked with the celebration of a young couple's marriage who were not financially well-off. I think this is a well-gestured decision by the foundation and every society should take such steps for the betterment of the nation."
To kick off the festival, the foundation decided to help a poor couple get married.
[Manpreet Kaur, Local]:
"My friends and I are enjoying this a lot. This event is very entertaining and this is the best way to show the values and traditions of our nation one can get the best knowledge about the culture from this festival."
The festival aims to keep alive the cultural values and traditions of various Indian states.
Performers from around the country presented their folk dances and artistic skills, and were well received.
Decorated elephants and horses dancing to the drums beats added to the beauty and uniqueness of the event.

"I am very attached to this festival. It binds me with my ancestors and their culture. This is the best way one can learn and spread the beauty of our color, culture and traditions."
The festival runs through Thursday.
