Table Topics is a form of public speaking where people are given a random topic, and they must immediately deliver a coherent speech on the fly that lasts between 1-2.5 minutes in front of a bunch of people.
This is my winning speech at the Division K Fall 2010 Table Topics Competition. This video starts after I was introduced and given the topic...which was "Who makes you laugh?" The odd statements in the beginning that received laughs were references to previous speeches during the "Humorous Speech" competition which was held earlier on the same night.
In a Table Topics contest, all contestants are given the same topic, so you are kept outside the room until it is your turn to go on stage, receive the topic, and deliver your speech.
The Table Topics competition is a playoff format. If you win at your "Club" level, you compete against 5-6 other Club Champions at the "Area" level. If you win the "Area" Championship, you compete against 5-6 Area Champions within your Division. If you win the Division Championship, you go to the finals at the District Conference (held November 5th, 2010).
In total, Division K has ~30 clubs. District 55 has 167 current clubs throughout Texas.
