Keep it up kid...wish I was that good at his age. I like how he's concious of the changes and is aiming for the 3rds, 5ths and b7ths of each measure
small nugget of advice: use the blues scale sparingly...I used it a lot when first learning to improvise and it can quickly become a crutch because it's so easy and appropriate. try to flirt around the blues slace and not play it linearly

tHANKS FOR THE GREAT ADVICE. HE HAS RETIRED HIS TRUMPET AS THE BLUES SCALE IS ALL HE KNEW HOW TO PLAY ON IT, hIS TEACHER HAS HIM PLAYING ALL THE EXOTIC CHORDS ON THE SAX. bAND-IN-A BOX IS A TERRIFIC TOOL.

That's not a trumpet sound.

we chose to have him play a vintage Elkhart trumpet because it sounds similar to his Conn sax. one of the best sounding saxes ever. If you choose to play a bright thin-sounding instrument, no body will stop you and nobody will stop him from playing his vintage instruments. At 14 he is well on his way to be a pro sax player. We just made this video to encourage young musicians since he pays the sax so well it intimidates other young players. Now go criticize someone else!
