Why do some of these cyclists just sit on the road after the fall. Can't they get just get up and off the road before another cyclist hit them and cause more crashes? If they're not lying face down, then they're conscious. Get up! Get off!

@dtaurin well those other parts will heal. you damage you're brain, you're fucked. i crashed with nothing but a helmet and my clothes, and i got scrapes around my left side and on mu palms and legs. but by head was unscratched. if i didn't have my helmet, i may have gotten brain damage. helmets are good, whether you have pads or not. pads are not truly necessary, but a helmet is.

Just so you folks who don't follow the sport of cycling know...
1. These races are as big in Europe as NASCAR is in the US, so the cyclists are not expected to slow down for pedestrians, and the pedestrians are not supposed to interfere with the race.
2. Back 10-15 years ago, helmets were not mandatory in races.
3. When cyclists are sprinting for the finish line, it is typical for them to be riding 40+ mph.
