[Skyla's P.O.V]
"We are so ready for the dance next Saturday. We nailed all the dance moves and our scene is down pat." I said to Talon as we awaited Rylan to get out of school. I was utterly happy it was a Friday, but more excited for dinner at Talon's tonight.
"Yes, we have definitely got the entire scene down and the dance is improving with every run through it." He responded smiling at me. I was ecstatic that we had learned all of both projects and even more happy that they were both going to be out of the way, within a week of each other. On the assignment Ms. Gibson had given us before the whole dance at the ball, Talon and I had received a ninety seven percent.
"I'm so ready to just present the scene to the class." I said, plopping down on the stone wall, which framed the graduation classes. Talon instantly sat beside me and laid our backpacks next to him.
"I am too." He replied, looking at me with his breathtaking eyes. I was so intrigued to see his background and who granted him with these features. I shook out of this daydream and scanned the crowds for Rylan.
"What are you going to do with Rylan tonight?" Talon asked, looking at me and then at the ground.
"OH CRAP!" I blurted, covering my mouth once I had spoken those words. I was not one to put dirty words, in elementary terms, to young kids. "I forgot about asking Keegan to babysit. I don't want to ask too late but I already forgot." I added, slapping my hand to my forehead.
"Rylan can come. It won't be an intrusion, my mom loves kids." He said, smiling at me.
"You sure? I hate to add to something, without giving some kind of warning." I replied looking at him guiltily.
"It is fine, let me just give my mom a call." He answered, whipping out his phone and punching in the ten digit number. He smacked the phone lightly to his ear and waited a few seconds before chatting into the speaker. I awaited his mother's answer and my brother to leave school. As I waited, I saw Rylan exiting the school doors with Elijah's sister Charlotte. I didn't want to interrupt them so I stood by the side. Rylan scanned the school grounds for me and found me. He hugged Char goodbye and walked over to Talon and I.
"Hey buddy." I said, embracing him in a hug. I pulled apart and smiled at him. I glanced over at Talon just as he hung up his cell phone, sliding it into his back pocket. He grabbed our bags and sauntered over to Rylan and I, saying hello to Rylan.
"My mother said he can come." Talon said, looking at me as he spoke. "Want to come to dinner tonight with my family and me?" He asked, directing his attention to Rylan with the question. Rylan instantly shook his head yes and did a little happy dance. He was the biggest dork on the planet earth.
"I think he wants to come." I answered for him, chuckling as he continued to dance around Talon and I. I snatched my bag from Talon's shoulder and held Rylan's hand as we walked towards my apartment. We discussed what was for dinner and Rylan was adding to his excitement when he discovered that we were having Chicken Alfredo with garlic bread sticks. Once we approached the building that held my apartment, I handed Rylan the keys and told him I'd be up once I was done with my conversation with Talon. As Rylan dashed up the stairs, my attention was plated back on Talon.
"He is one hyper kid." Talon said, laughing and scratching the back of his head.
"Nah, he is fine." I said, all serious, but he knew I was joking. We both, in unison, laughed and smiled at one another.
"Anything you want to know before dinner?" He questioned looking at me with a crooked head tilt. I thought of everything possible, but knew he already told me. Automatically, something new popped up in my mind and I prepared to form the words on how to ask.
"How many siblings do you have?" I asked, smiling at him. What I wasn't expecting, was the answer he was about to throw at me.
"Six. Five of them are adopted, but my brother, Lukas, and I came from my mother." Talon said, gazing at me. He stared; concerned I may freak out on him and not accept his big family.
"That is a lot of kids, but if you are this sweet, your mother must be fantastic with children." I said smiling as a smirk rose on his face.
"Alright. I'll see you at six, right? My mom said she would have dinner ready by seven." Talon spoke, adjusting his backpack. I shook my head yes and hugged him goodbye. I entered the building door and watched him take a big breath, telling me that, exposing how many siblings he had was an unusual occurrence. Though he was relieved, he was still ultra-cute.
