The awful images we see are akin to a third world country suffering from violence and war and crisis and self destruction.

DRCongo. Iraq. Afghanistan. Liberia. Lebanon. Kenya. And many others have travelled this path.

And now Australia looking very much like a third world nation needing help from the watching world.

Burned out car wrecks.
Women crying. Dead bodies. Children fearing.
Land devestated as if by atomic bomb.
Smouldering crushed homes & businesses.
Perished dreams.
Extinguished hopes.
Demoralised people.

Yes you will recover.
You must.

But forever you will know you are now only one step from the ghastly third world image that you scornfully claim other nations to be. And the witnessing world will also know such things, as they have always done, that your country is at all times but one small tread from humiliation. No better than the rest of us. Perhaps even worse as you are not yet hardened to the reality of large scale disaster.

Learn from this event the consequences of your HUBRIS and never imagine again that your nation occupies a glorified position of untouchability by disasters, natural or man made.

The ugly images broadcast to the world of Australia and its recent events must surely now give you pause to sit in quiet introspection as you assess how your behaviours have upset your own people so much that they would seek to turn on you and set such fires upon you deliberately.
And then once you have considered your national behaviour, think also of the world beyond your borders, and how you have treated the people who now witness your nightmare.
Australia must make changes.

But instead you will make defensive counter claims and excuses.
And denials.

  • I don't get your point here. What does this natural disaster have to do with the man made disasters in the countries you mention? I've heard the Egyptian weed is pretty wild stuff - you should go easy on it.

  • The fires were NOT a natural disaster.

They were deliberately lit and charges and inquiries and investigations are currently under way.

  • What the hell? Just because we have bad bushfires doesn't mean we're bad people. Bushfires are common in Australia and what has that got to do with third world countries? No, Australia doesn't need to change their ways, we're happy with who we are. If other countries have a problem then who cares? The average Australian can't stop things like this happening. Honestly, grow up and take a look in the mirror. The only people who need to change are the people who think its their right to act as God.

  • You are one ill individual sylviekunt. To use this tragic disaster to peddle your own youtube war against Australians is utterly appalling. People like you who live with such hatred and childish anger eventually get what they deserve. Explain to me exactly what Australians have 'inflicted upon other thrid world nations' as you constantly preach? You are a sociopath with a jaw droppingly inflated perception of your own importance in the universe. Grow up. Australia is not your enemy. you are.

  • @moakley

It's an unfortunate reality as an Australian. I lived in the south west of Melbourne so the majority of the fires hit a long way away but even there, the sky was nearly black with smoke and ash that had drifted in the wind.

  • @SylvieKloot fuckwit.....the fire WAS A NATURAL DISASTER. You sit in your safe little world and judge, you hypocrite. You feel you can make up any story and it's the truth? Get away from your computer and see the real world.

I am a Kinglaker, a survivor and you are an armchair smart arse, know nothing but full of shit commentating, someone who feeds on the misery of others with great glee. Grow up you self righteous ghoul, you pretender of righteousness, grow a brain PLEASE.

  • you're an idiot. this is so insensitive, you should take a good hard look at yourself for saying those awful things. Australia pulled together to help those poor people who lost everything. stop projecting your own self hate onto us australians. We are a beautiful country with beautiful people.

  • Sylvie Kunt you are not even human. You are a sick being who has nothing good about them and must direct your only feeling hatred towards innocent people suffering. Australia isn't perfect no country is. However a disaster man made or natural has victims. Victims who need love, support and guidance. I hope when you eventually die, that you have to face all of those victims. R.I.P you soulless fuck.

  • DUDE YOU NEED HELP!! HOW THE FUCK DARE YOU????

  • Rest in peace AJ, Jesse, Neeve and Mac. And everyone else lost in 'Black Saturday'

  • I live in Kinglake and everyone who died in 'Black Saturday' will never be forgotten.

  • YOU weren't stuck at home with a 6 yo, 1 yo and 29 weeks pregnant, desperately trying to put out the embers that threatened to burn down what has taken years of hard work and sacrifice to build, whilst your husband desperately tried to get through roadblocks to reach his family. YOU didn't see day turn to night within 10 minutes. It was like the apocalypse. I bet you didn't even donate to the cause. My friend lost her mum at Kinglake the DAY before her baby was born, then lost her baby. Tell me

  • Sylvie Kloot, you are a wanker. You are probably sitting in your secret underground lair with your 65 cats, wearing the skin of the last (and most likely... ONLY) man who was dumb enough to touch you, rubbing lotion on Timmy who is trapped down your well..... You are what is wrong with the world. Not only am I a proud Aussie, I'm a fiercely defensive one. YOU didn't live through this. YOU weren't stuck at home with a 6 yo, 1 yo and 29 weeks pregnant, desperately trying to put out the embers tha
