Here is a soundcheck of the Hughes & Kettner Statesman Quad. This is the dirty channel with no boost engaged. Gain at 9 o clock. It was recorded with no pedals and no post processing except a little reverb. Recorded with an AKG C3000 condenser mic placed about 12 inches from the speaker, off centre. The guitar is my Tokai Japan LS150F Les Paul with a Dimarzio DP100 Sper Distortion Humbucker in the bridge and the original Tokai Mk1 pickup with modified magnet in the neck.

  • It depends on the type of band you are in. The 40w Quad would give you more headroom on the clean sound. However, the clean channel volume starts at about 7 oclock and I gig with it at nine o clock ie hardly up and it's cutting and loud with humbuckers - this is with a band 2 guitars,bs,drms, harmonica playing blues rock country stuff. Dirty channel vol has to be higher say 10 o clock but never up to even half way !! You might get away with the 20w.

  • awesome tone...best video i've seen of this amp!

Just curious how loud this amp is? really way one to gig

with...just not sure if i should be the dual or the quad? any recommendation?

    thanks

  • @icarus5150 also another vid featuring this amp here - different band to the one i describe above - here the amp is on the settings described in my last reply - it has delay on the effects loop and I think some chorus during the solo section - may give you an idea - won't let me post URL - search Youtube for Tom Woodman Band Adventures in Dreaming - will get you to the vid I refer to
