I've had an S08 for almost 10 years... it's a tank! It has stood the test of time, traveled across the country twice, been through many gigs, had crap spilled on it by drunk people... I love this thing and have no intention of getting another full 88 anytime soon. Yamaha for life.

I just bought a Yamaha S08 from a pawnshop, have never used a synthesizer before. The piano sound in your video is great! Have no idea what "patches' or "2-band effect" means though!

The "patch" is the sound you are playing...
I was playing one of the piano sounds.
To get the "2-band effect", find a sound (patch) you like,,,
Press the "edit" button...
then press the "down arrow" just to the right of the botton...
Keep pressing thru.
You,ll see an effect with "VarEF" under it.
It may say 2 band or 3 band or what ever effect it's on... But from there, you can change the different effects.

That's either StPiano1 or Mono Pf using 2-Band Eq VarEF.
It is the piano sound from the S08.
You just got to know how to tweek it.

I have got a Yamaha S08 and that's is not its piano sound. you are using both a piano plug in or a tone generator : )

You know you can use the modulation wheel to brighten up the sound on the piano patches. Using the 2-band effect on your sounds will enhance the quality of the patches on the S08. Then set the reverb to about 35. Works for me.
