  • I got it for just under £170 however they have actually gone up in price recently and it's now about £200.

Since the release of Ubuntu 9.10 the difference is even more notable, as I am now using ext4 with tweaks and the SSD specific boot optimizations!

For a laptop I would say 60GB is just too small, so maybe wait a bit longer for the 120+ to come down in price

  • @GMSamuelRhine Yes, it is possible. Your OS will see it as partitions , thats all.

  • @wlmeng11 yeah i checked my inbox right at the same time lol

  • @GMSamuelRhine Fast response.

  • @wlmeng11 sweet thanks.

  • @GMSamuelRhine Yes, install your OS on an SSD and then the HDD will show up like an external drive, where you can put all of your documents. If you want your programs on that drive, you will have to make a symbolic link to connect a folder on the SSD to the files on the HDD.

  • is it possible too have an SSD just for booting the OS and possible some other programs if needed. and a regular HDD for saving files such as photos and stuff?

  • Wow ! That's very very fast.

Please, tell me which tweaks and optimizations.

    Thank you in advance.

  • SSD's are very underated by the looks of it, it seems to make instalations, boot, copying and app launching much much faster. Better than over clocking or getting fast RAM IMO.

Hopefully they come down in price over the coming year.

  • Nice, man... I wanna get an SSD myself. I can't wait. My laptop's already decently fast as it is with a 7200 RPM drive, but an SSD would make it perform even better.

    How expensive was yours?
