Empire State Tibet Protest Sep 30, 2009

Tibetans and supporters protest the Empire State Building turning its lights red and yellow to honor the founding of the People's Republic of China. To us, there is nothing to celebrate about the last 60 years of oppression, torture, imprisonment, killings, and brutality at the hands of the Chinese government. In this video, Lhadon Tethong, Executive Director of Students for a Free Tibet, speaks about the irony of dedicating this American cultural icon to the celebration of an imperialist government that is known for torturing and oppressing Tibetans, Uyghurs and its own citizens.

TIBETANS, NEW YORKERS PROTEST EMPIRE STATE BUILDINGS CHINA HONOR
LIGHTS TURN RED & YELLOW TO MARK 60 YRS OF CHINESE COMMUNIST RULE

New York Tibetans and their supporters will gather outside the Empire State Building (ESB) this morning to voice their outrage over the decision to turn the buildings lights red and yellow in honor of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China on October 1st. The protest will take place at 9:30am in front of the 34th Street entrance of the building. Chinas Consul General Peng Keyu is expected to take part in a symbolic lighting ceremony at the ESB at 10:00am. The lights will remain red and yellow until Thursday morning.

Its a disgrace that the Empire State Building is giving this honor to the Chinese Communist Party, a regime directly responsible for the deaths of at least 30 million people in Tibet, East Turkestan and China, said Tenzin Dorjee, a Tibetan-American and Deputy Director of Students for a Free Tibet. I think Americans will be outraged to see the most iconic building in the U.S. kowtowing before the totalitarian Chinese state.

Respond to this video... Tibet under China's rule is more legitamate than Hawaii in US Rule. Tibet has been continuously under Chinese rule since the Qing Dynasty. That was more than 400 years ago.

do you know that the American or Native American population from which we stole their land has about 80 to 85 percent underemployed and impoverished.
