Founded in 1993, 'Burning The Clocks' is Brighton's main annual winter solstice festival. It takes the form of a parade through the city that culminates in a fire and fireworks show on the beach. Paper and willow lanterns are carried in the procession and burned as a token for the end of the year and to greet the lengthening days.

Organisers Same Sky describe it as 'an antidote to the excesses of the commercial Christmas'. The parade is very popular with families and has many children from local schools taking part.

This short film was shot using an iPhone 4 on Marine Drive as the parade drew to its conclusion.

  • Nice movie :) I co-ordinated the samba groups for burning the clocks you had first Bloco Fogo (Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone Kent) Spiritus (Uckfield UCTC )then Blatchington mill school ( brighton) Barulho (Brighton) and Last but not least Brighton School of Samba (Brighton) many thanks to Same sky as always a top Event by a top company :)
