Like him or not, if Booth had not shoot him, Abe Lincoln would be 200 years old! I found a recording of Johnny Cash reading the Gettysburg Address and thought it would go good with a slide show honoring our 16th president. Lincoln's time as president had to be the worst time any president had ever had before or since. he was sworn in at a time our country was tearing itself apart. When President James Buchanan was leaving office he told Lincoln " If your half as happy coming into this office as I am leaving it, then your one happy man!"

  • To "Kaleidaoperator: i study history, i live in the south and the issue was SLAVERY. it was an underlying issue but very much was the MAIN CAUSE. The south was going to secede because it wanted to continue to practice the inhumane institution of slavery. The CivilWar was bound to happen. The south was deeprooted in its ways, not wanting to acknowledge what was written many yrs before in the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal.

  • Since you study history, then you know that the Declaration of Independence was written by a slave owner.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • They never told us about this in school: Corwin Amendment:in 1861 the Corwin Amendment was intended to prohibit the Congress from banning slavery in those states whose laws permitted it. the newly formed Confederate States of America was totally committed to independence, and so it ignored the proposed Corwin Amendment.

    This came from Wikipedia

  • Outgoing President James Buchanan publicly endorsed the Corwin Amendment and Abraham Lincoln, in his first inaugural address, said he did not oppose the Corwin Amendment

  • this video is so old.i already knew that a guy named john shot him.i read it in a book.

  • Lincoln's Daughter, the last in the Lincoln Out of Time trilogy of novels released through Portland State University's master in publishing program imprint Ooligan Press, follows a time-traveling Abraham Lincoln to 1955. Years later, a daughter he conceived on that journey strives to be reunited with him.

  • If John Wilkes Booth didn't shoot him, he would die of old age dummy.
