WDJT Channel 58, Milwaukee's youngest full-power station, and a station pushed into the limelight wihen WITI took over the Fox affiliation in 1994 and was unexpectedly given the CBS affiliation out of desperation, ends its rather short 20 1/2 years of analog broadcasting by bowing out last among Milwaukee stations right at 11:59pm on the dot, right in the middle of what was sure to be a wonderful Craig Ferguson e-mail segment punchline.

Before that though, they remind us that thanks to having quite a few sister stations, they're not going away on analog for at least another month. WYTU-LP over on Channel 63, which usually carries Telemundo and is unaffected by the transition, will carry the WDJT schedule for the next month to provide an enhanced "nightlight" and is a pretty smart way of keeping a full-power network signal on the air for at least a little longer.

As was done in my first video for WGBA, this was recorded holding a RCA portable TV to the camera and plugging the external audio jack into the computer to avoid the usual noisiness. I tried to stay out of frame, but I peeked in a few times. I have a couple more sign-offs; thankfully those were made via cable and recorded to DVR and came out much better.

  • Great sound! How did you connected a sound to avoid noisy from portable TV?

  • @jason24568 I directly hooked the headphone jack on the TV to the computer to get the sound cleanly. It was literally mono sound (only coming out of one speaker) but it did the job.

  • Great video ! Thank you for upload ! 5*

  • The reason for the 1994 switch from FOX to CBS was the Gigantic NFL deal that Fox took over from CBS with the NFC package.

  • I was watching this the same night on the same cbs channel, well he comes on cbs on my tv and I had same rca tv lol and I was thinking of recording it and put it on youtube but I didn't.
