Naomi hasn't managed to harvest two sacks of food in any of the last 5 years, and this year the drought is worse than ever in the eastern Kenya district of Mwingi.

The irony is that she lives not far from the banks of the Tana River, the 'Nile of Kenya'. Where the water can be used for irrigation the land is green and productive. But it needs government and the big donors to support small-holder farmers for this potential to benefit people like Naomi.
