Boat engine starting on land running from a hose for cooling. The propeller (despite the fact that it spins slowly) is not connected to the drive shaft, if it was it would spin very fast and be dangerous.

  • I am starting a project soon, does the boatengine get destroyed if full power on land?

  • @jotz123456789 I wouldnt. The load on the engine out of water is significantly less. So full power on land would 100% over rev the engine, the limit is 4900 RPM, i assume you would pass that easily. So i wouldnt. When on land we idle the engine, only revving to start or if it is going to shut off if it is cold outside. So i suppose yes. Always run it with water. 15 seconds is enough for the water pump to break and then that is an expensive repair, and then in water the engine would over heat

  • @jotz123456789 What would be the reason for doing this? Just curious.

  • @jotz123456789 possibility of the muffs slipping off with high revs.
