At 1:15, she says "We". She was about to resort to the earlier part of "We live by love", she had a great save though. I'm going to sing this in my voice class today, I hope I do half as well. =] <3!

I don´t think you should translate any opera if the one who invented the original lyrics is already dead. In this case Emanuel Schikaneder died in 1812.

On the whole, I agree with you. I've sung this role in German a number of times. English translations are only good for English speaking children who can't read the supertitles.

Magic Flute in English is not criminal when you have a good translation this one sucked! The voices were different, not sure if I would have cast these voices. Was this a professional production?

Indeed, it was a professional production. I was brought in to sing Papageno after another baritone dropped out. Prior to this, I had only sung the opera in German. I'm not a big fan of opera in translation, especially with the advent of supertitles. The show was a big hit with those under 12 years of age.
