Video from the Department of Health and Human Services office in Biddeford, Maine. February 18, 2011.

Evidence that demonstrates both the Medicaid system's vulnerability to fraud and abuse, and the critical need for reforms to insert more safeguards and accountability into Maine's vast welfare system.

  • I agree that DHHS workers need more training. I know people that NEED welfare that cannot even get hold of their workers.

no matter how many times they call and leave messages, they are not called back., or if they are called back, the worker cannot find their case files.

  • you cant train them to be honest fire them all and start over prior to this the case worker probebly never held down a job prior to working for the state any small business owner would have never hired her

  • @marywarner1000 lol can sum you up in one word......IDIOT

  • this is not mw1000.i am a grown man. LOOK FREEDOMLAND,YOU R A F****** MORON. YOUR A STATE WORKER WHOS TRYING TO COVER YOUR WORTHLESS ASS. I HEARD IT LOUD AND CLEAR. SO STOP TRYING TO COVER FOR THE FAILURES OF DHHS. ALL YOU WORKERS ARE CORRUPTED,EVERYONE OF YOU SCUM BAGS. GET A REAL JOB. TRY WORKING LIKE THE REST OF US YOU PIECE OF SHIT. OH BY THE WAY LEPAGE BLOWS HIS MOTHER.

  • More safeguards and accountability? That translates into the State of Maine spending more money. How about making able-bodied citizens get jobs? There should be time limits on Food Stamps. This state needs Medicaid because of the poor insurance offered by employers, if any. Why don't the people who post these videos try living in the states they are scrutinizing? Living in Maine is a hard life, we welcome this life for the quality of it. We need leaders who have a clue!

  • Also, she did not hear he was a naturalized citizen, therefore he is a U.S. citizen. She did not hear he has money in the bank, request bank account statements, there is an asset limit for MaineCare. He states he has a business, must provide tax records or S/E form.

  • This is so bogus...this worker does not have a clue about establishing eligibility for Medicaid. This video does not represent a responsible case worker for DHHS Medicaid eligibility. If I interviewed this guy, he would have had to supply income records for his business, all of his assets would have to be accounted for. If he did not provide this information, he would have been denied Medicaid. This worker does not have a clue!
