Kinda a lie, even though ASS has longer range means nothing on the defense portion. If it's ASS vs Acclaim , Acclaim would win by default from the amount of DPS you can do during stun/

apparently it's only more effective when the enemy has a defense of 110 or above, compared to acclaim. But in tomb, the range helps a lot, yeah.
