It's too bad this was an era when performers had to stay on "sound of the moment" to keep recording contracts. This was a junk pop rock tune that was a complete waste of what she was capeable of. This happened to 90% of the great blues and jazz performers of the 1940s & 1950s. Only in looking back, can we appreciate what they really were the best at. Listen to her early work with Freddie Slack & you may understand what I'm saying

It would be good to own that Bear Family collection- all her recordings with Capitol and a book as well. There was so much good music coming out in the 1950s- not least from Capitol Records in LA. Ella Mae is a revelation- I just wish singers today could do what she did-they're all over the place now-no feel for the song- just technique and self-indulgence.

What a terrific song. Thanks to you, I have "discovered" Ella Mae Morse. She is just incredible and should be a household name!
How right you are, Miss Morse stands alone, there is none to compare her too, thank you for your comment .
