http://CuttingEdgeInnertainment.com The 2007 Ig Nobel Prize in Medicine goes to Sword Swallower Dan Meyer, President of the Sword Swallowers Association Int'l, and Dr. Brian Witcombe, Radiologist at Gloucester Royal Hospital, for their medical research on sword swallowing injuries. The Ig Nobel Awards are presented at Harvard University each year for scientific research that "makes people laugh, and then makes people think".

The team spent two years researching injuries of the last remaining sword swallowers around the world. The resulting medical research paper, "Sword Swallowing and its Side Effects" was published in the December 2006 BMJ British Medical Journal.
