Funny, we're almost in 2015. And you're right, nothing in this game was super hi-tech.
We have rifles that can shoot grenades and regular bullets.
We could build robots like that, but modern firearms (explosive armour-penetrating missiles) would rape it open, so why bother? If you want to encounter massive infantry and roll them then you use a BMP-1 or a tank or something. So no need for super-expensive robots.
