From the Crossroads 2007 Benefit (Best Buy Bonus Disc).

Since there seems to be so much confusion on the matter: Derek Trucks is the nephew of Butch Trucks. Butch is a founding member of the Allman Brothers and Derek has played in the Allman Brothers since 1999 (When he was 19).

Elijah Blue is Greg Allman's son and is NOT in this video. You can find more info on him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elijah_Blue_Allman

The most likely reason this was not included on the official DVD is that Clapton's guitar feed drops from the dueling guitar section with Derek in the latter half of the song. There are other versions on youtube that captured the live stream and have a different mix of the two guitarists.

  • too bad they almost muted clapton in a guitar duet, sometimes the sound guys just dont get it -_-

  • @karawanmann

ugh, didn't take my comment the first time through... There were apparently some technical difficulties that cause the soundboard of Eric's feed to be so low. There are some other streamed versions on YouTube that have his guitar at the level where it should be.

That would also be why it only made it onto the BestBuy bonus disc. It's not gonna make the cut if Eric's guitar feed wasn't captured right. ;)

  • Derek Trucks is fucking awesome.

  • When Clapton lets you take the lead, you know you're doing something right.

  • This has to be one of if not the best performance of Derek's life.

  • REMEMBER DUANE ALLMAN

  • @rosshmusic Thanks for the info on Derek. I was told once that he was Butch's son and I came to believe that.

  • at 5:38 Derek pulls out the slide from his pocket, check out the video screen!

  • @mollet09 Yes, Steve Jordan and that drummer that played with Clapton and Winwood at MSG. Unfortunately it wasn't Steve in that concert.

  • you feel claptons pain. this is amazing.

  • How about this?

From ~2:17 on we hear the personal mix that Eric gets on his floor monitors.

    Perfect sound, only himself missing...

  • is that steve jordan on the drums?

  • More guitar players should play SGs?
