Boat Quay:驳船码头 - The two- and three-storey shophouses in that area, with their characteristic five-foot way beneath projecting upper floors, were preserved and transformed into new businesses. The shophouses and godowns along the river bank were restored in the 1990s and are now bustling shops, restaurants and bars.
The inaugural Singapore River Festival新加坡河节is a key highlight of the Singapore GP Season, a lifestyle season of events, entertainment and parties supporting the 2008 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. Already a draw by day for its historical charm and landmarks, the Singapore River is also synonymous with waterfront alfresco dining, vibrant nightlife and exciting entertainment after sundown.The highlights of the festival include Clarke Quay's River Party featuring concerts on the river with international and local artistes, a spectacular bumboat parade花船游行and dance drama "Legenda Singapura" by Singapore River Cruises, Singapore River's first ever mega illusion show "The Impossible Journey" by J C Sum and "Magic Babe" Ning @ Central, the 10-day Timbre MusicFest at Empress Place, pub walks by Journeys and outdoor parties, among others.
