My first composition in Ableton Live Lite 8.
I made this music in less than 4 hours on 12jan2011
This Ableton Live Lite software came with my Behringer UMX-61 keyboard which I have for some years now, I had never used the included Ableton software though, so I thought lets give it a try...

because it was the first time ever that i used Ableton, I quantized everything maually, because I didn't know where the quantize-button was :-)

E-piano, synths, guitar, drums

I will eventually buy either Steinberg Cubase or Cakewalk Sonar, however because I have Roland hardware and Sonar is cheaper I think it's going to be Sonar

Update: I've bought Sonar :-)

  • This software is coming with my Fender Mustang amp on Tuesday, I was wondering how limited it was because I already use Adobe Audition CS5.5 and Garageband, so I was hoping it offered more than those two. Any help would be great, thanks. And that was a good score too, it built up nicely, good work.

  • @SainteLincoln86 thanks, it has a limited number of tracks, i think it's 8 tracks for the lite version...

  • @BezemerPeter I got it the other day and I love the software a lot. It is much better than Garageband and Adobe Audition for podcasting, it has more to offer me. From your experience though, is there any significant features that this software is lacking?

  • @SainteLincoln86 I dont think there are big differences between the different DAW's such as Live, Sonar or Cubase. The interfaces are different, but I think the main differences are in the details, such as effects and other goodies.

I have no experience with podcasting though. After I tried Ableton Live I have bought Cakewalk Sonar X1 Studio, was cheaper than Cubase and is quite suitable for what I use it for.

  • Good tune and choice of sounds.

  • @downfader2 thanks!

  • Cool man...sounds like a score in a movie. I got ableton live lite 8 too with an MPK.

  • This is pretty cool. It would make a pretty great distopic theme for a video game or cartoon.

  • awesome bro

  • @johnnyacoustic1 There are no bumb questions...sorry I couldn't resist. Hey so, after you export your tracks to either aiff or wav you will need to use a cd burning program...this format will be 16bit .cda....Depending on your OS, google "cd burning software", for mac its built in...

  • Firstly masive thank you for taking the trouble to help the option when "saving as" is to save as a ableton live set and thats your lot which dose not play in normal cd but ! if I export audio / video then Im given the option of changing it to a windows wave file

this is better because I can play it on the computer but still cant play it on a normal cd player
