Define gay icon.

Oh? Define "gay icon," and why other entertainers fit the criteria but Behar doesn't. See my previous post on this topic. Behar has a large gay following, frequently and regularly speaks out on gay issues, and has slammed homophobes -- both as a commentator on The View and her CNN show, and as a comedian. Why is she any less of an icon than, say, Judy Garland?

@lgbtTV4 Joy is the only reason gay men watch The View... that and because we keep praying a stage light will fall and crush Elisabeth to death on air.

I would fuck the shit out of Joan rivers!!!

Andersoon Cooper is hot and charming.

How funny that people in this thread are not LAUGHING but FIGHTING.
These are absolutely talented women. And the phrase "on the planet" is hyperbole--almost idiomatic like "on the road." We are not ACTUALLY walking on the road, but traveling.

They're all incredible women!

Oh wow I didn't know who Phyllis was but the 'I'm glad I'm still alive' alive and her other bits (and at her age) really charmed me.

Anderson Cooper..."carved out of ivory soap"
I just lost my drink. Love love love Phyllis Diller. One of a kind!
-
I can't believe Phyllis Diller is still going, she looks feisty too :)
-
I love Phyllis Diller so much, its so sad to see her grow old, but Its refreshing knowing that she is healthy and still looks good (in fact she looks better now than some of her looks in the 70s) and 100 times better looking than Joan and Joy

Joan's Fashio Police show is HYSTERICAL!!!
Quote "On the planet". Funny how they are all Americans. Ridiculous. There are so many funny women in the world - particularly if you speak a language other than English like some of us! Ethnocentrism at it's best.

@jjaus I agree but Anderson didn't say that these are the 4 funniest women on the planet. He said that they were the "4 of the funniest women on the planet." That doesn't mean that there aren't other funny women, or even funnier women. He's simply saying these 4 are among the funniest (in his opinion).
But yes, I hate terms like "World Series" in US/Canadian baseball, which is hardly the world. "MIss Universe" is similarly stupid because I heard that Mercury has some pretty HOT women. :)
