iv tried flintknapping slate but it keeps braking as their is so many layers to it.

slate is the only kind of rock we have around where i live that i can find easily that would suit an arrowhead. i have tons of it in my backyard as a matter of fact :P i tihnk im gonna try and make one, because i just finished my bow. its not the best, but it works ;]

i've tried knapping quartz but i find it way to hard, and it only seems to break off in chunks not flakes, i used to make arrow heads out of nails that i would work with a blow lamp.

i have once i made it out of braided stinging nettle fibers it was ok, but normally i use nylon cord ,

i do go hunting i haven't used the slate heads yet,i think they would work you can get them quite sharp,
