Sadly Speed Racer has died...Speed Racer has been silenced.

Peter Fernandez, who voiced the iconic character in the American import of the 1960s Japanese cartoon and who also wrote the lyrics to the indelible theme song, has died.

He succumbed to lung cancer at 83, according to the Anime News Network .

Rest in peace.

I wonder what footage from the "Burnout" series of video games would look like set to this tune. (They used the Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated" to superb effect in that game.) Also, perhaps, various car-chase sequences from the James Bond movies...and/or the movie SPEED.
