  • Damn, those frigate approaches must be intense.

  • He may suck on land but why don't you try landing a helo on a space no bigger than a tennis court that's moving at sea. Better yet, try keeping a helicopter steady while trying to rescue someone in the middle of a raging storm. Coast Guard does this shit everyday.

  • wow that was some great shots.... even the guy at the beginning .. at first i thought i clicked the wrong video...lol..

What i wouldnt give to be on a dolphin for a ride along. that must be crazy to land and deploy from the seas specially when they are rough.

  • the jayhawk is far longer range and can carry more survivors. the jayhawk has at least twice the range of the hh-65, so they base those near areas where a lot of far offshore rescues occur.

  • Even after being retired for 10 years.. looking at this stuff is like it just happened yesterday.. So realistic in typical u/w ops.. At min 115.. the looks like the pilot was trying to figure out where he was going or how he was going to freak out the crash crew lol..

  • HH65 replace the HH52 (slower, larger but more able). Jayhawk (H60 w/different paint job ;-)) is a long range, heavy lift/weax helo. The 65 is fast, small and is to "dart out" and "dart back" rescue platform. Can't land in water for pickup or rescues. Can't hold near as much and doesn't handle the heavy weax as well. But it sure is friggin fast. The H3, another flying lifeboat could handle lots of people, cargo (rear door opened like a C130) and had a long rang too.

  • The 65 is for short range SAR and the 60 is a medium range SAR platform. Each have their advantages when it comes to the mission. The 65 being smaller allowing it to get into tighter situations and landing platforms that a 60 would be too big for. On the other hand the 60 has a longer range and can carry more people.

  • Yes and No. They both perform the same tasks, but the Dolphin cannot carry as much weight load as the Jayhawk. The Dolphin cannot stay out as long as the Jayhawk either. I believe the Dolphin is faster, you just got to take what you can for the situation. It's our motto right? Always Ready? Semper Paratus ;)

  • y r there different types of helicopters used by the coast guard , the HH-65 (dolphin)and Jayhawks do the same thing don't they, rescue people using winches

  • you think that's a tight fit, try being on an H-60 doing DLQs on a 270. Lookup CGC Legare on youtube, you'll see us doing it.

  • Yep looked pretty good to me ....Wheels over the fan tail wheels over the deck wheels in the circle , You are in the grid , as the cals would go , only thing I notice they did diferant then us ( posibly wrong was ) the FM was not cetered and facing forward
