Check out this old Super 8 movie which has been digitized and re-formatted for YouTube of vintage two stroke dirt biking. Originally created in 1973 for a high school project, this short film features riding on the north shore of Oahu and on the green rolling hills of Kipahulu, Maui. Bikes are Maico, Penton, CZ, and Husky. Complete with time period music from Traffic, Cat Stevens, and The Moody Blues.

  • I thought that was Jim Wilkinson ,glad they had the names there at the end ,awesome video ,brings me back to when I had some vintage bikes ,glad you guys filmed it

  • @Puinsai5 Yes, the star of the film was Jimmy. Those were very fun times - we were riding at the park amost every weekend, with occasional excursions into "army land". The Maui trip was a school project. We are pleased to see the positive responses we are getting here on You Tube. Thanks for checking it out!

  • Awesome video! This was the time of the Haleiwa sea spree. This is Waialee motorcycle park and it's brand new here. The whole park is full of 30-50ft trees now...so amazing how it's changed. Thankyou very much for posting. This is a part of my childhood. I would have been around 13 and racing a husky 125 at the time. All I wanted to do was ride all the time. funny how things come back around and now all I want to do is ride all the time.

  • @woodsrider117 I too raced a 125 Husky back in 74-75, just before the Japanese bikes began their domination. I'm an old guy now and although I still enjoy swinging a leg on my dirt bike, I am more in mountain bking now. Thanks for checking us out!

  • Whats unreal, and I had a hard time believing when I was told, is the lack of growth, trees, etc back then up in Kahuku. Looks so open and free.

  • @digipoi It was. I live in SoCal now so haven't been to the park in years. Back in the day we used to stage in Kahuku, (near the beach and before Sugar Cane mill), then ride into the hills through what we used to call "army land" and over into the park from the back side. Not sure you can do that now. .
