(The Sons of Brazil starts playing "The Girl from Ipanema".)
The Sons of Brazil performed at Joslyn Art Museum's last Jazz on the Green outdoor concert for 2008. The band formed in 1991 and is from Kansas City, but you wouldn't guess that because they play nothing but Brazilian jazz . . . and do it very well! The Sons of Brasil consists of group founder Stan Kessler (trumpet, flugelhorn), Doug Auwarter (drums), Danny Embrey (guitar), Greg Whitfield (electric bass), Roger Wilder (keyboards), and Gary Helm (percussion).
Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha has sponsored Jazz on the Green for the last 24 years, usually on the front steps of the museum. Because of construction for the new sculpture garden, the concerts took place on the north side of the museum this year. The 25th season will be return to the east entrance near Dodge Street.
