It's not just about what notes you play but HOW you play them. One seriously hip blues with a New Orleans street beat 2nd line big four funk type thang goin' on!

Almost impossible to notate how these notes actually sound. Bends, glissandi slidin' grace note flavors with growl, mute, wah wah, etc. (It's not really an Ab or a G#.)

Charles Mingus -- bass
Ted Curson -- trumpet
Eric Dolphy -- alto saxophone
Dannie Richmond -- drums

Recorded in 1960 on an album called "Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus"

  • Wow Great work as usual ! Do you have pdf of your work or another format ? THX

  • @jdcrouhy No other format right now...There will be a website in the near future to obtain pdf files. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your interest. Peace.

  • @JazzCapacitor Waiting very avidly for this website, your transcriptions are fantastic! To be very honest with you I took the trouble of copying one of them to a sheet by hand, so I could study it for a show.

Thanks a lot for all the marvelous transcriptions.
