  • hmmmm, so a node point on a guitar, is really where the string doesnt vibrate?!?

cool, does that mean that artificial harmonics?

  • A node point is where the string doesn't vibrate in certain harmonics. When you pluck a string, it vibrates with all harmonics simultaneously, so the string vibrates everywhere (unless you constrain it at harmonic nodes, as demonstrated).

  • so with artificial harmonics are you "creating" your own node point, sorry to ask, but I'm a newby as far as all this is concerned

  • Yes. Lightly placing the finger on the string (at the right point) creates a node point and allows a single "harmonic" (vibration shape) to ring.

  • thanks =]

    this helps

  • You're welcome =]
