This is a well-made explanation of artificial material scarcity and how it can be addressed by open source economic development.

This is the core of Open Source Ecology's work on the Global Village Construction Set. Scenes in the video from hay baling onwards are the developments taking place at Factor e Farm in Missouri, USA. This is part of going the last mile on the construction toolkit part of the Global Village construction set.

We are busy preparing the Civilization Starter Kit DVD. The latest need is professional fabrication drawings - the step beyond documenting the complete fabrication procedure. See sample fabrication drawing - a compact, information-packed format. Compare this to a sample fabrication procedure on the CEB press, which is much more expanded. We currently have complete 3D Cad of the CEB Press, and most of the Tractor and Pulverizer. The Power Cube is primarily in Sketchup.

If you can help us on the fabrication drawings, starting with the CEB press - let us know. We are looking for volunteers or paid professionals. The Kickstarter funding can be allocated for this purpose as needed. The timing is tight. While we will have full fabrication procedures, the professional fabrication drawings may not be generated by Christmas, in which case, they will be added as soon as they are generated.

  • @quietthomas Fair critique. The videos are heady. But are they designed for mainstream? OSE is still at a technical stage.

  • @quietthomas ...I'd say people like TheUrbanFarmingGuys or JMEMantzel do a MUCH better job than you at connecting with the audience, at getting US thinking WE can do it TOO. Those they inspire may one day need the very excellent dry/dense stuff you're hard at work on. Sadly, I think some of your work is going to waste by being made inaccessible, impractical, and worst of all imposing. JMEMantzel cleared trees off the land for his house with not much more than some winches and elbow grease.

  • I am the one dislike. I love your ideals; open-source, modular, from scratch. But I HATE your videos. I HATE THEM! Every single one is like a bunch of ex-contractors and trades people summarizing what they did that day. It brings me NOTHING. I know you have the DVD (which by it's nature, will probably be very dry), and Factor E - but your entertainment value here is terrible to the point of being de-motivational. In terms of connecting with people (you know, the other end of open-sourcedness)...

  • you are such a great man

  • But people could also build with high technology efficient cities.

Maybe not in a capitalistic society, but in a society built on technology and science.

  • awesome!

  • Nice video!!!

  • You are doing something tremendously significant. Congratualtions.

  • This is wonderful!
