Performed Live in 1995 at the Frankfurt Opera House, with the Ensemble Modern conducted by Sian Edwards!
Due to the 10 Minutes restriction from YouTube, i had to split the Concert in five parts...! Good Audio Quality, Video capture!

  • Is it weird that i have a tendancy to sing along to this one? I kinda want to see an acapella group do the whole piece, actually. That'd be sweet. Fantastic recording, though! Is this the audio they used for the CD?

  • @OnionRingOfDoom

No, it is not! It`s the original audio from the european premiere!

But if you mean the voice samples, yes it is from steve reichs recording which has been used for the CD as well...

  • This is thrilling music!

But i actually dont understand the message if there is any.

For me it only depicts the turbulent, noisy city life with its gear-like course of events.

  • Don`t look for the message to much, watch part by part and you`ll understand the piece... ;-)

  • is this in sync?

  • @opusnumberken what?

  • WE PREMIERED THIS WORK AT TANGLEWOOD AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT, UNFORTUNATELY WE DID NOT CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF THE WORK QUITE AS WELL AS FRANKFURT OPERA, BRAVO!!!! THIS IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT WORK IN AMERICAN LITERATURE.

  • Techno techno techno

  • sounds like a mechanical bark.

Hi I'm Jocelyn & I like mustaches but not on ur face

  • This reminds me of one of those novelty albums where someone samples a dog's bark and plays Christmas carols with it.

  • Steve Reich = Music for the new century = L O V E

  • @Yetipfote perhaps thats the point
