Brand New MP-1 Antenna from Superantenna, 1st Test on my QTH JN61FT.

Radio: Yaesu FT-857D + TXCO + COLLINS 2.3Khz + COLLINS 500 Hz.

I used the original wire radials (3 meters) with this S.W.R report:

- 40 meters S.W.R. 1:1.7
- 20 meters S.W.R. 1:2.2

The S.W.R. is checked with MFJ-259b Analyzer.

Not too bad for balcony and near objects test!

In the future I'll change the supplied radials with new one (3 for each Band) 1/4 lambda length for better match / improve the performance.

  • Great looking antenna , I plan on getting one myself. I have an 857 Yaesu and love it.

  • I also have an MP1..with MFJ whip. Prefer the MP-1 to my Buddistack when tuning the antenna. The Buddi clips are a pain. But, because of weight, the MP-1 should be perfectly vertical. To heavy at an angle.

  • Good job! Good signal for mp-1. I like mp-1 for performance and trouble free setup's. FT-857D is small but well doing TRX.

    73's !
