  • honestly who gives a shit if he is trained or not, why dont you just take it for what it is.

sounds dont have to be about anything or fit in a structure.

its just sound or noise or you can call it whatever you want to call it, its still just what it is.

this is how he plays violin even if his technique is perfect or not i think you should just pay a little more attention to the sounds, the textures, the rythm,

and of course if you cant apreciatte this you can always watch something else.

  • I guess it's just not my thing. I mean, I can hear parts where you can tell he really does know what he's doing, but I'm not sure why he'd pick that particular scratchy jarring noise to go with--pushing the strings down all the way usually eliminates that... He probably just wants to be hipster and different. Meh.

  • That was kinda beside the point, sorry... not talking about the work itself. Anyway, there's a lot of logic to it, I mean it's really tight. I think partly improvised but he's not just, you know, mindless noise-making.

  • Well, you didn't sound like that when you were nine. Neither did I or anyone else after playing violin for just a couple years. Not only that but you can tell he could easily play traditional material. I don't know anything about his musical background, but if I had to guess I would say he leaned to play the traditional way---maybe Suzuki or something like it. The kind of control he has could only come from experience... and his movements, certain specifics of form, make me think he's trained.

  • what?

  • Oh my god.

  • Not sure where the allure is... this is what I sounded like when I first started playing violin.. when I was, like, 9.
