@markvergeer Yes... MSX was a sucessful line here. After, apple ii clones and zx sinclair clones.
We had trs-80 iii and 4, but the iii was for commercial use. The model 4 wasn'n very popular...
If you had patience, you can see some brazilian computers at cobit.com.br . Search the link "Micros nacionais" (national microcomputers). They were separeted by lines like IBM, MSX, apple... there you can see some pics of them.

@Jac2Mac loading in cartridge files on emulators for the Vic20 is notoriously difficult as they often come in multiple parts and have to be loaded into memory at the right places. The Vice emulator is also out for Mac which may work a tad easier for cart-files.

I would have loved to see a version of Transformers for the Vic 20. I know there was a c64 version. Such a game would make tremendous use of graphics.

@summer20105707 Now that would have been something indeed!

Not bad for Vic-20. Unfortunately all the games I had for mine were terrible with the exception of Jupiter Lander

@jeremysart It was quite a special machine. It didn't feature sprites like its bigger brother the C64 nor did it feature a nice sound chip like the SID but it still had quite a few good games on it.
There were also a lot of appalling ones too.

@markvergeer Yeah, I have heard that. Werent the graphics text or ascii based?

@jeremysart The machine had a bitmap mode with 'hires' screenmode of 160x160 or something like that. But that was very slow. Using character graphics you could use the built in 'print' routines to get the graphics (8x8) on screen rather quickly. By copying the basic characterset into RAM and moving the pointers to the charset location in ROM to the RAM you basically could modify the charset and use that on screen. Fast and colorful.
THe ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC used a similar technique.
